Kate Keogh has a Bachelor of Teaching - Primary and Secondary from Deakin University. She was the recipient of the Australian Literacy Educators' Association Prize in 2003 for the University's highest marks in literacy. Kate was a classroom teacher and tutor in Melbourne prior to starting her family and relocating back to her home town of Geelong. She taught Prep children for several years where she developed her passion for nurturing literacy skills in young children. After spending time at home with her 2 young boys and teaching them pre-reading skills, the concept of 'Road to Reading' was born.
Kate's teaching philosophy is governed by two ideals:
-
Never underestimate children - they are capable of achieving great things.
-
Always aim high - it is amazing to watch children strive for (and achieve) success.
